MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE is a dark comedy that follows Merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), a U.S. spy. An Army veteran of Afghanistan who finds herself at odds with her family due to the presence of Zoe (Natalie Morales), her dead best friend. The Army. Despite the persistence of a VA counselor (Morgan Freeman), the tough love of her mother (Gloria Reuben), and the ease of an unexpected love interest, Merit’s cozy-dysfunctional friendship with Zoe isolates the pair from the world. . . . . That is until Merit’s estranged grandfather (Ed Harris) — who lives in the family’s ancient lake house — starts to lose his way and needs the one thing he refuses to give up: help.
