Scenario
The crew of the horror web series travels to an abandoned asylum for a live broadcast. They soon encounter much more than they had time to move deeper into the nightmarish old building. The filmmakers were not allowed by the South Korean government to film in an actual hospital, so the scenes set in Gonjiam were filmed at the National Maritime High School in Busan, where the production team closely followed the hospital’s floor plans.

when the group is in front of the hospital. She apparently responds with a smile to whoever it is. References Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007).
That’s not the case with Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum
I’m usually critical of found footage horror because it’s usually unnecessary and doesn’t add anything to the story. Usually, found footage films work better than “regular” films. film.
The pace of the movie is pretty slow, and nothing happens in the first half, but it’s worth it!
With the new cutting-edge technology and the reason the actors can work with the camera, it serves this cinematic purpose perfectly. A bit of shaky camerawork and other “effects” that are usually seen in found footage, which I think ruins the movie. The story itself is pretty standard, 7 young “ghost hunters” going to an old mental hospital, mostly for the sake of ratings and profit, which makes it more realistic than other similar movies.
This is a subgenre I’ve ever seen, I’ve bumped it up to a 7
I was originally going to give it a 6, but considering that it’s a horror movie and one of the scariest movies. If you want a scary movie without too much action, this is the movie for you.
